Dopplr
I was recently invited to Dopprl, a networking site for travelling business people (I think that's the intent). I am not too big on social online networks so I wasn't too enthusiasted at first. I think I have even declined some earlier invitations stating that I can't handle any more social networking sites (sorry guys). If you've tried to poke me on facebook you know I rarely respond (sorry again). You might wonder why I have the account then. The short answer is that someone invited me and I didn't want to be rude so I joined.
But I think this Dopplr one has a good idea. I don't travel as much as I used to, but I do find myself alone in foreign cities a few times a year. A colleague visiting the city at the same time would make nice dinner companion, as opposed to in-room dining and boring TV (worst TV's: German and Spanish because they dub everything, and US because it's all ads and you can't find a decent program that runs for more than 5 minutes before being interrupted. I look forward to my first trip to India in a few months, I'll report back on the TV experience)
I'm also hopeful to get some tips for my upcoming trip to NY, which is actually a holiday. It's been a few years since I took a holiday abroad. Because I travelled a lot for business I didn't want to move an inch during my holidays, but that's changing a bit now. Well, the NY trip is really for my son, but I'm sure I will find some nice things to do there too.

Very handy to include a link letting me share this story on Facebook
