My dear friend and colleague Sari and I have had a dream since last year to do something visible in to help promote the idea of usefulness of mobile services to so called atypical users like women over their 40's and basically anyone who is not in the bullseye target group of high tech mobile phone companies. The idea is not only to encourage women to take full advantage of their phones and enjoy the benefits, but to influcence mobile device manufacturers, operators, retail and advertisiment agencies to realize the purchasing power of women and take them into consideration when planning products, services and campaigns.

We started to collect data last summer and have a quite a lot of material already gathered. We also have some pages of written material ready.  In order for our survey to have any real meaning we realised we need more responses, so we took the questionnaire to web. Go visit www.nanovalo.net to see what we have ready, participate in the survey and even write your own story to us.

This is a high time to give public recognition to someone who helped is tremendously, Mr. Joseph Lukong from Cameroon. He managed to conduct a large number of face-to-face interviews with women in Cameroon over last autumn. A special thanks to Mr. Joseph Lukong for your cricital support. The material from Africa is truly valuable for this study.

Women and technology is not a new topic, but still it gets ignored in so many instances. Every vote counts in the way towards the tipping point, so please spread the word - and the link.
