Handgun for disabled - a medical device?
A US company has tried to register a handgun as a medical aid device, which would hopefully result the government reimbursing the elderly and disabled for their gun with Medicare.
According to the spokesperson: "It's something that they need to assist them in daily living ... The justification for this would be no more or less for a [walking aid] or wheelchair, or any number of things that are medical devices". Read the full story here.
The device itself seems to be a good example of inclusive design, but there's just something quite repulsive about the idea that handguns would be regarded as something that even disabled and elderly need in their "daily living".
