No, that's not the latest sports trend, I'm talking about wireless charging.

A startup called Powerkiss has teamed up with some Finnish furniture manufacturers and Helsinki University of Technology for productising wireless charging tables. Tables with embedded inductive charging mechanism do make a nice use case. When you come home all tired and can't find the charge, you can just throw your mobile and mp3 player (if someone would choose to have these as separate device, that is ... ;-) on the table, and they will charge themselves. In the office you can forget about wire spagetti on the desk, the laptop gets its power directly from the table. Handy.

But what about energy consumption? Everyone understands that our generation is responsible for producing technology that is more power conscious, not less. Didn't we already realize years ago that days of careless comfort are over, and the word is now "sustainable".  Their website doesn't mention energy consumption at all. Very cool, but irresponsible I'd say.
