Nokia scores #1 again
Greenpeace has announced the 12th version of their continuous study on green electronics. Nokia has been the best consumer electronics company in this ranking many times, and this time Nokia continues to improve their #1 position by scoring 7,45 points on the scale from 1 to 10. Well done, although there is improvement to be done in using recycled materials in mobile products.
Samsung came in second, with 7,1 points. Interesting that these two companies also happen to be the market leaders, and in this order. This is an encouraging message to those who think that being environmentally sound means doing badly in business. Apple (11th), Sony (12th)and Microsoft (15th) all lost points compared to previous study. It's difficult to understand how companies think, at this day and age, that they can afford to increase their ecological footprint, as opposed to making all efforts in their power to reducing it. Very strange.
