Traveling geeks at Cambridge Nokia Labs
Renee Blodgett, who I covered earlier this week as well, posted a blog entry on her visit to Nokia Research Center (NRC) in Cambridge, as part of the Traveling Geeks' trip to London and Cambridge. She lists the four research areas that NRC is working on: rich context modeling, new user
interfaces, high performance mobile platforms and cognitive radio. In addition, she mentions that "We looked at smart surface materials that externally control color change as
well as nano sensing in future mobile devices" and "We also covered physical and digital worlds from personal to global sensor
information".
To me these are hugely interesting topics, too bad she didn't go into more detail. It's been 18 months since I left NRC, and I'd be interested to see what development there has been, especially in Cambridge where they are working on my baby, the Morph. Perhaps next time when I'm in London I should take a train and pay them a visit.
