Solar powered airplanes
Electric airplanes have been in the development pipeline for some time, according to wikipedia even from 1970 or earlier. These funky looking clever machines took a step forward in becoming commercialized, as a manned, solar-powered plane flew 26 hours by using only solar power as energy.

It is the longest and highest flight recorded by a solar-powered plane, and also the first time a manned solar powered plane has flown during night with no direct sunlight available. The plane has 12,000 solar cells arranged on its wingspan which collected enough energy to power the plane for the flight. Read full story at BBC .

I remember last year when I was travelling around Australia, I had my tax return done, and with the money I got back I went on one of the Hunter Valley Wine Tours and was able to see the beautiful Australian countryside.

Laser Diffraction26 hours! Wow! That confirms that solar-powered planes can be a viable option forcommercial flights. I hope to live to see the day when I will board a solar-powered plane. Hopefully it happens soon, because it would help the planet a lot.
